Americana Festival

Each year, thousands of visitors come to our community in a splash of red, white, and blue to celebrate Independence Day during the Americana Festival. Washington Township is once again proud to serve as a host sponsor of Ohio’s largest single-day festival, along with the City of Centerville.

Of special note is this year’s Grand Marshal – Township resident Mindy Cline, whose entire career has been spent educating our community’s youth. Cline is retiring this summer as principal of Primary Village North after three decades of service with Centerville City Schools. She exemplifies the festival theme, “Building Today’s Stars into a Brighter Tomorrow.”

This year’s events begin at 6:30 p.m. on July 3 with live music and food vendors, followed by a spectacular fireworks show at 10p, all at the Centerville High School Stadium.

Activities start bright and early at 7:30 a.m. on July 4 with the Up and Running/RecPlex Americana 5K, hosted by the Centerville Noon Optimist Club. At 10 a.m., more than 200 bands, floats, and displays will march through town to celebrate our community spirit during the Americana Parade. The parade also will air live on Time Warner Channel 5.

The Americana Street Fair and the Auto Show will be open from 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. on July 4. Visitors will find more than 250 craft and food booths, as well as strolling and staged performers, and families will love the children’s areas at Activity Center Park and at Town Hall Theatre.

Cruise-In to the Ice Cream Social

Washington Township is excited to again host this year's annual Cruise-In to the Ice Cream Social at the Washington Township RecPlex on Sunday, August 10 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Last year, beautiful weather brought out a record number of community members who enjoyed a day filled with classic cars, games, complimentary hot dogs, burgers and, of course, ice cream.  Additionally, the RecPlex was open so families could enjoy free open swim, open gym, and rock climbing! We can't wait to welcome the community back this year for all of this and more!

The cruise in part of this event is always a big success as once again this year, all makes and models of cars and hotrods will cruise the grounds while families have the opportunity to explore various police, fire and SWAT vehicles. Annual favorites will include painting a fire truck, shooting water at a pretend fire and meeting Sparky the fire dog.
