Identity Theft

Identity Theft Education & Document Shredding

Washington Township and the Sheriff's Office are helping residents take a proactive approach to identity theft. Periodic Super Saturday events offer residents the opportunity to dispose of sensitive documents and to learn about identity theft.

During these events, a sheriff's deputy from the Washington Township Substation is on site to answer questions. Law enforcement experts recommend that people shred important documents, such as invoices, bank statements, canceled checks, medical records, and credit card receipts.

Residents can drop off up to 12 grocery-size bags at the Super Saturday event. These bags may contain paper, data storage materials, and credit cards. Documents will be securely shredded.

  • Bank statements

  • Credit cards
