2026 leaf collection is underway!

Every leaf season is different. Some seasons bring a gradual leaf drop while others see leaves come down more quickly and over a shorter period. Adverse weather such as rain, cold weather, or snow may disrupt our schedule. Cold weather can cause leaves to freeze in piles that must be broken up manually. Our Public Works crews work through every route until the job is done, often dealing with weather challenges along the way.

Leaf Collection Update: October 29, 2026

Here's where we are as we finish up our first week of leaf collection:

• Route 1 — first pass is complete

• Route 2 — first pass is complete

• Route 3 — first pass is complete

• Route 4 — first pass is in progress

Looking ahead to next week, crews anticipate starting again on Route 1 on Monday, November 2. Each route will take about a day and a half to two days, depending on the weather.

Remember, our Public Works crews plan to make 4-5 passes through each route until all leaves are picked up. Just keep raking your leaves into long, narrow piles at the edge of the street! Watch for another update next week.

Find Your Leaf Route

The Township is divided into four routes for leaf collection. Crews move from route to route in order. That means Route 1 will be serviced first, Route 2 will be serviced next, and so on. Crews collect leaves on more than 150 miles of streets and will make repeated passes throughout the Township to ensure that all leaf piles are collected.

Step 1: Find which route your street is on using the GIS map below (or the PDF version).

Step 2: Throughout the fall, we will post updates about leaf collection. These updates are usually shared weekly and can be found on this webpage and on our Facebook page.

Step 3: Get raking! All leaf piles should be placed on the curb, away from parked cars, mailboxes, and storm drains. Piles should be clear of any limbs and grass clippings. Do not bag leaves.

How Can You Help?

Follow these tips to keep leaf collection on schedule, hold costs down, and reduce storm water pollution.

• Rake leaves to the edge of the street, not on the street where they will cause a traffic hazard.

• Rake leaves into long narrow piles so they can be reached from the street.

• Do not bag leaves. They will not be picked up.

• Do not put sticks, grass, rocks, bottles, or other yard waste in your leaf piles. They will not be picked up.

• Keep leaf piles away from storm drains and catch basins. Stormwater runoff carries them to nearby waterways where they are a source of water pollution. Clogging these areas with leaves also may cause flooding on your property.

• Keep leaf piles away from obstacles such as mailboxes, fire hydrants, vehicles, and landscaping rocks. If these items are hidden by leaf piles, they could cause damage to machinery or injure employees.

• Do not allow children to play in leaf piles, especially piles near the street.

• Avoid parking on or near leaf piles. It is difficult for crews to work around vehicles.

• If you employ landscapers, be sure that they comply with these procedures.
