Electric Aggregation

You are eligible for Washington Township’s aggregation program if you meet the following criteria:

• You are currently enrolled in the Township’s electric aggregation program or you pay the AES standard rate.

• You are a resident or qualifying business located within the unincorporated area of Washington Township. The City of Centerville has its own aggregation program.

• You have not already chosen an electric supplier on your own outside of the aggregation program.

• You are not in the Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP).

• You are not behind on what you owe on your electric bill.

• You are not a business customer using over 700,000 kWh/year.

During the renewal period, residents who are currently enrolled in the Township’s aggregation program or pay the AES standard rate will receive a letter that explains the program and provides an opportunity to opt out within 21 days. If you do not opt out, you will be enrolled automatically into the Township’s aggregation program.

You will not receive a letter if you are enrolled with a supplier outside of the Township’s aggregation program or you are registered with PUCO’s “do not aggregate” list.

There are no enrollment, switching, or early termination fees. Residents may leave the program at any time without penalty and may enroll later without penalty.

No. New residents will receive standard AES Ohio rates for electricity. Eligible new residents may join the aggregation program after the expiration of the initial opt-out period by contacting Energy Alliances at 513-794-5555 or www.energyalliances.com. The rate will be the same as the rate negotiated for the aggregation program. 

If you participate in Washington Township’s aggregation program and you move from one location to another within the Township boundaries, you will be assigned a new Choice Service ID number. You will need to enroll this new account number in the aggregation program by contacting Energy Alliances at 513-794-5555 or www.energyalliances.com.

If you participate in Washington Township’s aggregation program and you move out of the Township boundaries, you will no longer be eligible to participate in the aggregation program and will not be charged an early termination fee from the broker or the service provider.

Residents may join the aggregation program after the initial 21-day opt-out and 7-day rescission period expires by contacting Energy Alliances at 513-794-5555 or www.energyalliances.com. Residents will be responsible for any early termination fees with their current supplier. There is no fee to join the Township’s aggregation program.

No. Although the Township is certified for a natural gas aggregation program, we have not entered into an agreement. We are watching pricing and will continue to monitor the market.

Your electric bill has two main parts:

• Supply cost – This cost depends on how much electricity you use and which supplier you choose. The aggregation rate affects this part of your bill.

• Delivery cost – This is the fee to deliver electricity to your home. AES Ohio controls this charge, and it can change based on things like overall residential use, system upgrades, and large energy users like data centers. In Ohio, you cannot shop around for a different delivery rate.

As consumers – even those in the Township aggregation program – it is important to be informed in order to make the best choices. You can compare rates or even manage your own electric rates by visiting www.energychoice.ohio.gov.

Aggregation participants will receive a single bill from AES Ohio. Aggregation participants will see Constellation NewEnergy listed under generation charges in explanation of current charges portion of bill.

Aggregation locks in a supply rate for a fixed amount of time. Washington Township’s rate for electric aggregation is $0.09999 (or 9.99 cents) per kWh through the May 2028 meter read. AES Ohio's typical residential “price to compare” (PTC) for June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027 is $0.1086 (or 10.86 cents) per kWh.

If you use electricity as the primary energy source to heat your home, the PTC is still $0.1086 (or 10.86 cents) per kWh from June through October 2026, but it drops during the winter (November 1, 2026 to May 31, 2027). This rate has not yet been published. The winter rate only impacts all-electric homes – a status that is listed on your AES bill. The majority of Township residents do not have all-electric homes.

Most Township residents will save money over a 12-month period — even those with all-electric homes.

Eligible residents who do not opt out of the Township’s aggregation program will be enrolled automatically and will receive the rate of $0.09999 (or 9.99 cents) per kWh for traditional, non-renewable power.

Residents have the option of receiving renewable energy by opting in at a rate of $0.10358 (or 10.36 cents) per kWh. If you wish to opt into this program, please contact Energy Alliances at 513-794-5555 or www.energyalliances.com.

No. Washington Township does not receive financial benefit by offering the aggregation program.

The broker fee is part of the aggregation price and is paid only by residents who choose to participate in the Township's aggregation program. The broker fee is $0.0006 (six-tenths of a cent) per kWh for the June 2026-May 2028 contract.

Residents who do not participate in the Township's aggregation program do not pay any fees.

If you prefer not to receive future opt-out notices for electric aggregation, you can register with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) to be placed on the "do not aggregate" list.

There are three ways to register:

• Call PUCO toll-free at 800-686-PUCO (7826). Provide your name, service address, and the customer account or identification number located on the utility bill.

If the customer's AES Ohio account number changes, the customer must update their request with PUCO. If a customer has multiple accounts, each account must be registered separately with PUCO. If a customer moves, even within the same utility service territory, the customer must re-register to remain on the "do not aggregate" list.

Neither Washington Township nor our aggregation broker can stop suppliers from soliciting independently for your business by mail or telephone. Registering for PUCO’s “do not aggregate” list only prevents residents from receiving solicitation regarding the Township's aggregation programs.
