Washington Township offers a free drive-through service twice a year to help residents dispose of sensitive documents and unwanted medications.

During the Super Saturday events on April 25 and September 19, 2026, residents can drop-in anytime between 10 am-1 pm. Remain in your car, and staff members will direct you to unlock your doors or release the trunk latch so they can unload items.

Document Shredding and Disposal

• Follow the signs to the Public Works Garage, 8190 McEwen Road.

• Present your photo ID. The service is free for Centerville-Washington Township residents.

• Residents can drop off up to 12 grocery size bags containing paper, tapes, CDs, and credit cards. Click here for examples of sensitive documents.

• Store your documents in disposable containers. We will keep the containers and dispose of them.

• Township staff will unload items, and documents will be securely shredded.

A deputy from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Washington Township Substation will be on hand to provide information about identity theft. Law enforcement experts recommend people shred important documents such as bank statements, credit cards, credit reports, driver's licenses, medical records, mortgage applications or paperwork, Social Security information, and tax returns.

Medication Disposal

• Follow the signs to Fire Headquarters, 8320 McEwen Road.

• All types of unwanted and expired medications are accepted EXCEPT needles or syringes. For the safety of our staff, we will not accept needles, syringes, or illegal substances.

• The program is anonymous, with no questions asked. Identifying information, drug name, and dosage information may be removed if desired.

Medication disposal also is available from 8 am-4 pm Monday-Friday at a drop-off box in the lobby of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Washington Township Substation, 8190 McEwen Road. Click here for a list of items that are or are not accepted at this location.
