March 13 Meeting Agenda

When Washington Township purchased the South Suburban YMCA in 1988, one of the first orders of business was to create a Recreation Advisory Board. Since then, the board has helped steer the Recreation Department through three decades of tremendous growth -- including multiple building expansions and countless new programs. When the RecPlex considers a new policy, building expansion, or any significant change in procedure, the proposal first goes to the advisory board.

Board members help maintain an ongoing dialogue with our user community. From its inception, the board has provided strong support for the Recreation Department's mission and facilities, while ensuring that recreation members have an active and inclusive voice.

The board is appointed by trustees, including seven at-large members who either work or live in Washington Township. Four other slots are appointed by trustees upon the recommendation of Centerville City Council, Centerville City Schools and the Washington-Centerville Public Library. Board members serve annually-appointed, staggered three-year terms.

Citizens who wish to offer their opinions and ideas about the RecPlex and its programming or who are interested in serving on this board are encouraged to call the RecPlex or contact a member of the advisory board.
