As the first leaves begin to fall, our Public Works team is preparing for another busy season of leaf collection. Beginning in October, leaves are picked up throughout the Township, with each street being serviced multiple times throughout the season. "Leaf season is different every year," said Tim Franck, Public Works Director. "Our crews work long hours and make every effort to collect leaves as quickly as possible. Sometimes weather or heavy quantities of falling leaves can slow down our weekly progression." To help plan for collection in your neighborhood, check the Township’s leaf pickup forecasting schedule on our website. Follow these steps for a smooth leaf season: - Rake leaves to the curb or edge of the street. - Do not bag leaves. - Keep piles away from storm drains and parked cars. - Keep leaf piles free of sticks and yard debris. - Do not allow children to play in leaf piles, especially piles near the street. - Avoid parking on or near leaf piles – it’s difficult for crews to work around vehicles.
