New Electric Aggregation Rates

Washington Township’s current electricity supply rate will expire after the May 2025 meter read. The Township’s electricity broker, Energy Alliances, has locked in a rate with Constellation NewEnergy of $0.087 for electricity, through the May 2026 meter read. Additionally, a rate of $0.091 for renewable energy will also be available to residents through the May 2026 meter read. “The AES fixed rate will not be finalized until April, but what we do know is that from September 2023 to December 2024, the average participant has saved $465 on their electric bill, which is almost 28% lower than AES’s default rate,” says Mike Thonnerieux, Township Administrator. “This program has been widely embraced by the majority of our residents with a total savings across the community of $4 million.”

Over the next few weeks, eligible residents located in the unincorporated portion of Washington Township will receive a letter in the mail explaining the program and the 21-day opt-out period will begin. As a reminder, the program is an “opt-out program”, meaning that no action is required to receive the aggregation rate and eligible residents will be automatically enrolled in the program. If a resident does not want to receive the aggregation rate, they can opt-out of the program by following the instructions in the letter.

If a resident would like to be excluded from receiving this upcoming letter and any future letters for electric aggregation, they can register with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) to be placed on the “do not aggregate” list by submitting a short form on the PUCO website. www.puco.ohio.gov/utilities/electricity/resources/electric-do-not-aggregate-list
